Quick Installations, Repairs and Replacements
Electric Hot Water Heaters
Electric hot water systems offer an economical, dependable option for households, ensuring a steady flow of hot water. Caboolture Hot Water provides straightforward, efficient electric hot water installations and repairs with reliable service.
Electric hot water systems
Electric hot water systems continue to be the predominant type of hot water unit in Australian households and have been produced domestically for more than a century. Although the basic design remains similar, contemporary models now use better materials and thicker, denser insulation around the storage cylinders. That extra insulation reduces heat loss and boosts efficiency compared with units manufactured before 2000.
They work much like an electric kettle, using a heating element, and for the Queensland market are commonly offered in three main power ratings: 1.8kW, 2.4kW and 3.6kW (with a few 4.8kW models available in limited areas due to higher supply requirements). These ratings are standard across familiar brands such as Rheem, Dux, Vulcan, AquaMAX and Rinnai.
Bear in mind that changing the element size doesn’t alter the overall energy rating — a 1.8kW element uses half the power of a 3.6kW element but will take roughly twice as long to heat the same volume of water to the same temperature.
Most electric hot water units are built with mild steel tanks finished inside with vitreous enamel and protected by a sacrificial anode; stainless steel tanks are also offered, while the older copper-style heaters are no longer manufactured.
Caboolture Hot Water supplies and installs dependable electric hot water systems across Caboolture, offering installation and repairs for gas and electric units and expert service from a local Caboolture plumber.

Replaced and relocated electric hot water system with a heat pump at a competitive price.
Sun City Hot Water did a fantastic job. Were very easy to deal with from quote to finish. Took the time to understand what I wanted and explain how existing plumbing needed to be modified to relocate. On installation day they phoned ahead (always appreciated) and reconfirmed new placement etc before starting. Work was very neat and professional. Made sure that everything was working and cleaned up before leaving.

An electric hot water system
An electric hot water system can make up roughly a third of your power bill if you don’t have solar feeding back to the grid. On tariff 11, which provides electricity 24 hours a day at the standard residential rate used for general power and lighting, your running costs will be higher. If your unit is on tariff 33 it runs for around 18 hours each day, typically switching off between 6–9am and 6–9pm. Tariff 31, the lowest-cost option, supplies electricity only during off-peak periods, usually from about 9pm to 6am.
It’s worth noting that tariff 31 is generally unsuitable for hot water cylinders under 250 litres when the household has two or more occupants.
Electric hot water systems come in many storage sizes, from compact 25-litre models for kitchens and single basins to large 400-litre tanks for bigger families. Below is a general guide to tank capacity and household suitability (actual usage will depend on individual hot water needs):
50L & 80L: Best for 1–2 people in small units. These typically operate only on tariff 11 and aren’t suitable for off-peak tariffs.
125L: Suited to 2–3 people in a unit or small townhouse when connected to tariff 33.
160L: Suited to 2–4 people in a unit or small townhouse when connected to tariff 33.
250L: Suitable for 2–4 people on tariff 31 in most three-bedroom homes, and can serve up to 6 people on tariff 33.
315L: Good for 3–5 people on tariff 31, or up to 7 people on tariff 33.
400L: Ideal for 4–7 people on tariff 31, up to 9 people on tariff 33, and as many as 12 people on tariff 11.

Rheem
Read More
Rheem is one of the best-known names in hot water, recognised worldwide for quality and supported by one of the industry’s largest marketing programs.
In Australia, Rheem produces a broad selection of electric hot water systems:
Mild steel vitreous enamel (VE) models are manufactured in Sydney
Stainless steel units are built in Melbourne, at the former AquaMAX facility
Under the Rheem umbrella you’ll also find other prominent domestic hot water labels such as AquaMAX, Vulcan and Solahart.
Warranties vary from 5 to 12 years depending on tank size and construction. To maintain warranty validity and prolong the life of your hot water system, servicing is necessary at least every 5 years. This service should include replacing the sacrificial anode on vitreous enamel tanks, and it’s advisable to replace the pressure and temperature relief valve at the same time.
At Caboolture Hot Water, our Caboolture plumbers recommend Rheem hot water systems for their proven durability, wide product range and the confidence that comes with one of the most trusted names in hot water installations, repairs and maintenance, both gas and electric.
AquaMAX
Read More
The AquaMAX brand has been trading since 1988; originally family-owned, it became part of Rheem in 2009 after selling in excess of 500,000 electric hot water units.
AquaMAX has long been regarded in the industry for reliable quality, particularly noted for their stainless steel hot water products.
Their stainless steel cylinders continue to be manufactured in Victoria, while the mild steel VE electric hot water range is produced at Rheem’s Sydney facility.
AquaMAX hot water systems carry warranties from 7 to 10 years depending on the cylinder capacity — smaller tanks generally attract shorter warranty periods.
A service is recommended before five years of use, especially to replace the anode, which helps extend the life of the tank.
Vulcan
Read More
Vulcan is a well-regarded hot water brand produced by Rheem, positioned as Rheem’s more budget-conscious line. Vulcan delivers reliable hot water performance at an accessible price point. Their electric storage units use mild steel with a vitreous enamel coating, engineered to provide dependable service in Australian homes. Warranty information: 7 years for the 50L electric storage model; 10 years for units from 80L up to 400L. To prolong the life of the cylinder, the sacrificial anode should be replaced around years 4–5. Carrying out this maintenance helps prevent corrosion and ensures your system continues to perform. At Caboolture Hot Water, we recommend Vulcan hot water systems as an economical option, supported by Rheem’s manufacturing reputation.
Rinnai
Read More
Rinnai is widely regarded as a frontrunner in gas hot water technology. Historically, many of their electric hot water units were imported from China or built by Dux in NSW. More recently, Rinnai has established its own manufacturing facility in Victoria and now produces the Hotflo electric hot water range locally.
The Rinnai electric lineup includes everything from compact 25-litre units (perfect for kitchenettes or tight spaces) up to 400‑litre tanks suited to larger homes. Warranty details: 7 years on 25L and 50L models, and 10 years on all larger units. Note: warranty conditions require servicing every 5 years (or sooner). At Caboolture Hot Water, our Caboolture plumbers supply and endorse Rinnai hot water systems for their dependable performance, energy efficiency, and the reassurance of Australian-made manufacture.

Most models are produced in Moss Vale, NSW, and tank capacities span from compact 25-litre units up to 400-litre systems. At Caboolture Hot Water, we recommend Dux hot water systems for their well-established reliability, and we stock a broad selection so you can secure the right hot water system quickly — including installation and repairs for gas and electric models by a local Caboolture plumber.
Thermann
Read More
Thermann is a brand sold exclusively through the Reece Plumbing Supplies network, with its electric hot water units manufactured by Dux. Built from mild steel and finished with an internal vitreous enamel coating, Thermann tanks include a sacrificial anode to guard against corrosion. That anode should be replaced within five years to help the system reach its expected lifespan. Thermann electric models share the same warranty durations as the Dux Proflo lineup: 7 years for 25L and 50L units, and 10 years for larger capacities. At Caboolture Hot Water, we hold Thermann heaters in high regard for their consistent reliability and strong performance.
